The Department of Computer Science, Kumaun University, D.S.B Campus, Nainital is one of the earliest Computer Science Departments in Uttarakhand State. In the year 1988 computer science was introduced as a paper at the undergraduate level at Kumaun University. In the year 1990, computer science was given the status of an independent department. M.Sc in computer science was started in the year 2010& the Ph.D. program in computer science was started in the year 2013.

The regular revision of the curriculum helps the department to upgrade the students to meet their requirements related to recent trends and technologies growing in the professional era.
